Saugerties born and raised, I remain a resident here at this time. A Registered Nurse since 1977, I have been an employee of The Kingston Hospital since 1981. Having grown up in an "artsy" family, my love for art began at a young age. My Grandmother, Ivanell Brainerd Diaz, was an accomplished painter and had her work shown throughout the United States. I began drawing, painting and using a camera at a young age.

My passion for photography grew as a teen, and then came college. This was put on an extended hiatus for nearly 30 years. The past 2 years have been a period of intense growth for me, and my passion has once again awakened for art. Photopgraphy is a true love for me, being able to capture the natural beauty of a subject on film and reproduce it amazes me. Although I prefer black and white, I use an equal amount of color film.

Without the guidance and encouragement of 2 special people, I am not sure I would have continued with my works of art. A special thanks to Jim Kropp and John for their ever flowing wisdom, sharing technique, ideas and most of all their friendship.

For me, to be out with my cameras, whether in search of a subject, with a known goal in mind, or to just find a subject along the way, it is a place I am engulfed with what I am doing. To capture it on film, and have it be a true replication is a delight.
